Points Herald exists because the honest answer to most points questions is a calculation, and calculations were being answered with adjectives. Card pages promote products one at a time. Forums hold the wisdom but scatter it across a decade of threads. Between the two sits the question people actually ask: on my spending, which setup gets me to that seat, and how long will it take?

Our answer takes the shape of a reference work rather than a blog. The site is a set of connected tables — card earn rates, transfer ratios, reward-seat pricing — with the arithmetic between them computed on the page and shown in full. Prose earns its place only where it explains a mechanism the tables cannot.

The operating rules

Three rules govern every page. First, a figure appears only when it traces to a provider source collected on a stated date; anything unverifiable renders as an em dash, never an estimate. Second, commercial relationships are declared beside the links they affect, and no partner relationship changes a number in a table. Third, computed pages carry their verification state openly — a human-checked table says so, and so does one still awaiting that check.

Who makes it

The site is compiled in Melbourne by its founder with substantial machine assistance for data collection and computation, and human review over what gets published. That division of labour is deliberate: software is better than people at re-checking two hundred earn rates, and people are better than software at judging when a published offer smells wrong.
